About Me

There is nothin’ better than kickin’ off my shoes and walkin’ barefoot through my grass and into the dirt of my garden… Homegrown fruits and veggies overjoy me & just getting dirty outside does too. Now living in the depths of Chicago tea sends me over the moon. A cup of tea whether bubble tea, iced tea or hot tea makes me smile and heals wonders for me too. When I’m not out grabbing a cup of tea, you can find me dancing to my own beat and singing to my own lyrics while cooking-up something from scratch, from my heart. Most days I just be and spread the love.

-Graduation Ceremony, Spring 2013-

All of the surgeries that I’ve had for IBD taught me a lot about myself and for one I know that I am strong.

Example# 1.

I graduated in the midst of my health crisis. In this picture I am wearing an ileostomy bag and an adult diaper for a fistula. Bless my kind professors!

– Garden, Summer 2014 –

My garden also taught me a lot about life. What can I say, I love it, life, and the earth!

  1. Love your blog name. I’d like to see China one day. I’d love to travel the world; but for now blogging is allowing me to see the world. All the best with your blog and dreams :D

    1. Thank you :) yours has a nice ring to it with your name as well!! That was my first time traveling and I hope to be able to do it again and wish that you will get to one day too. I love how you have structured your blog- so fun! It’s what I want mine to be like once healthy…!

      1. Thank you too for your kind words. My daughter helped me with my blog otherwise I wouldn’t have ever been able to do this. She wanted me to blog for so long. So one day she set it up and said, “Okay mom, now start writing!” ;)

        1. Awh sweet. A blog is so nice to have to look back on things. You can easily forget everything you have done or been through.

        2. Indeed! You are so right. I’ve also got a cookbook in the works. My daughter wanted all the recipes she’s grown up eating and has pushed me into a book too. She encourages me.

  2. Wanted to say I just found your blog and I love it. Out of all the things I can talk about, I am amazed at one of your pictures above here. You, standing on the great wall of China. That would scare me with my IBD.

    1. Hello! Happy you found it and thank you! I will check out yours. I’m sorry, it would scare me a lot…I was lucky to have gone on this trip before I had IBD. Though, I got it shortly after I got home from it. I would not go if I did have it because my case has been so severe. I guess it just means you/we can go to other cool places suitable to our needs.

  3. Oh Wow, Thanks Julie! It means a lot to mean that fellow ostomates like reading what I have to say. I love how you have carried on with life and traveled to so many places. I’m excited to see this post!

    In gratitude,
    Faith

  4. Great blog! I loved the post about your “weirdest vacation ever” I could totally relate! I had a similar vacation last year! My weirdest vacation turned into my best vacation after I recovered from surgery (May 2012) and put a backpack on and went to South America on my own this past winter. If you are interested you can read about it at, amazingadventuresostomyincluded.wordpress.com

Thanks for sharing and inspiring :)

    1. Thank you, Julie! Haha I’m glad you could relate; it is an odd time because most of us before all this happens are so busy. It sounds like you really made the best out of it though! :) I am going to follow you back and am so happy you posted. Can’t wait to read about your travels.

      1. I really enjoyed reading your blog and I also nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award, even though, I know you received this already from Heidi @OstomyOutdoors. You are probably aware of the steps but they can be found on my blog post here:

        http://amazingadventuresostomyincluded.wordpress.com.

No worries, if you don’t want to go through the process (honestly it does take awhile) but I wanted to share your site with my readers, as well as acknowledge you and the amazing work you are doing!

        With warmth and gratitude,
        Julie
